Wasn’t exactly sure under what section to put this under. It could really go under beauty, shopping or my blog but today I am feeling like it will do the most benefit under this section because it really is my latest obsession. The stench from peoples feet during training is literally becoming intolerable.
Yes, this is a smelly sport. Not only are we dealing with our own sweat but we are also dealing with the sweat and funk of other people as well. The worst part of it are the feet. Vinegary smelling, damp, sweaty, smelly feet that have been festering in a pair of socks all day. The feet and hands are the only parts of are bodies that are completely exposed while we train. We have ample opportunity to wash our hands throughout the day but not our feet.
I actually rolled with someone the other day and after a couple of rounds of grabbing their foot I actually had to go to the bathroom and wash the stench off my hands. I don’t like perfumes due to all the chemicals but I do, on the other hand, love love love essential oils. Just a couple drops on your hands and feet can help to mask the disgusting smell of sweaty foot. I am actually developing a line of essential oil body sprays for this very purposes. I want to foot lock someone confidently and know that my hand won’t smell like funk afterwards. I always carry essential oil around and apply prior to training. A little goes a long way. It can also be fun to experiment with different scents to find what works for you. The truth is that most people are afraid to tell other people that they smell becuase they don’t want to offend anyone.
I say, err on the side that you do smell and deal with it before your partner thinks it but keeps this information silent. Your training partners will thank you.
