A poncho is a very weird article of clothing. It’s not quite a sweater, not quite a jacket. It’s not really outwear because it can’t stand up to the weather like a jacket but it’s not innerwear either because you need a shirt underneath. Most people don’t really know what to do with a poncho so they never wear them but let me tell you that the poncho is way underrated.
A poncho is a statement piece. If a bunch of people are in a room all eyes will be on you because it’s such a rare article of clothing that doesn’t get much attention in main stream clothing media. You can have the most boring outfit on underneath and then layer it with a bright poncho and you’ve got a hot outfit. The key to the poncho is that is must be worn with confidence, poncho confidence. If you wear one and feel akward and funny in it then it will show. Stand with confidence.
One of my good friends, self admittedly, is not big into fashion. However, when she showed up for dinner the other day rocking a teal and blue poncho I will be the first to admit that she made my outfit look so blah. I am not used to all eyes being elsewhere and I had poncho envy. She wore it with confidence and she stole the show.
My recommendation, especially as a cool spring rolls around is to experiment with the poncho, if you can find one. They are so easy to wear, they look high style with little effort and you will be noticed. All eyes on you!
